Hello! Especially to Steam Girl, to whom I promised to post sooner than this. I'm an archivist at a small, private college soon to be celebrating its 150th birthday. They entrust me with the college's history more than with its administrative documentation, which is fine with me. I am surrounded by materials dating from the 1860's through the current year. And it generally rocks. Outside of work I enjoy table-top role playing games, board and card games galore, some video games, singing, sci-fi books, general geekiness, and strong coffee. I have only recently stumbled upon Steampunk as an entire sub-culture, and I think it's an amazing outlet for creativity and even self-expression. My first introduction to the genre was through Phil Foglio's webcomic Girl Genius ( www.girlgeniusonline.com). Shortly after finding Girl Genius, I was invited into a role playing game in a "full metal fantasy" setting known as the Iron Kingdoms. Privateer Press publishes this game along with a few other steampunk-ish products ( www.privateerpress.com/). After going to DragonCon for the first time this year and seeing some very awesome steampunk creations I've been pretty well hooked. I'm working on a bit of a costume, actually, for Halloween and possibly for DragonCon next year. I might be asking for pointers.
