December Steam Girl The Prolepsis Project (Introduction) Composition 6, Nov. 2008
Rosemary Jann states that the “unprecedented acceleration of change sent the Victorians to the past for explanations, guidance, and authority.” (364) In the same vein of reasoning Steampunks of today react to the unprecedented technology of the 21st century but seeking guidance from the past. People of the Steampunk subculture use fashion, music, and technology of the past, specifically that of 17th-19th century, to reconnect with a world that has become isolated through technological advances.
